Aspirin, also known as acetylsalicylic acid (ASA), is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to reduce pain, fever, and/or inflammation, and as an antithrombotic. Specific inflammatory conditions which aspirin is used to treat the relief of mild to moderate pain including: headache, sciatica, rheumatic pain, neuralgia (nerve pain), symptomatic relief of colds and flu, fibrositis, migraine, lumbago, muscular aches, joint swelling and stiffness, sore throat, period pains, toothache, sprains and strains.
